Title:  Are you joking? Lol ...
Comment:  Are you joking? Lol there are no feral genets in the U.S., anywhere, period. So this concern does not exist. They are perfectly legal in Florida...where are the escaped genets? There are very few exotic mammals running around there and none that are prolific to my knowledge. Now CATS are another story. They have established populations in every state, yet loads or protection and idiots re-releasing them which has been -approved- by the government.

Comment:  That's not why the animal is illegal, and this animal does not pose that threat. You are using asinine blanket logic.

Title:  The issue is that ...
Comment:  The issue is that people get these guys.... end up not wanting them.... and when they can't sell them they set them loose in the woods, where they feed on small rodents. Then another person sets one loose and now there are hundreds of them feeding on thousands of rodents. Now that the rodents are gone, predators cannot feed on them and start do die off. Badaboom badabing bambi and friends are gone. At least thats the general idea... I have no clue what these cute guys feed on.

Comment:  rescues?!! he was gonna find a nice home for it... this is fucking stupid.

Title:  There is. People ...
Comment:  There is. People use your information to ban these animals, as is done in California and I don't want that crap in my state. Genets are not taken illegally, so that comment is really not relevant on this video. Unless you have some information?

Title:  There's no need to ...
Comment:  There's no need to be so spiteful, I was actually speaking of something different. The dangers I was talking about are with the illegal extrication of the animals (a lot of damage is done to their habitats and other animals that may be in the way of extraction), dangers that I worked to alleviate at the Sacha Yacu Wild Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in the Ecuadorian Amazon outside of Puyo. They welcome volunteers if you or anyone is interested in helping with their rescued animals.

Title:  This video is a ...
Comment:  This video is a disgrace to the National Geographic Channel. You are promoting law enforcement officers that confiscate a small illegal CAPTIVE BRED exotic pet and sending it to a "sanctuary" that has zero clue what the animal is yet much less how to take care of it. That is really irresponsible. Then to film these people make outlandish claims about an animal that they just learned even existed without having any background knowledge of is even more absurd. SHAME ON YOU NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC!

Comment:  He ended up in some wildlife preserve i'm glad hes there probably happier but the way they went about it was ridiculous, I had him neutered at my local vet.

Comment:  I have one. The way they presented this is beyond retarded. Do you know where he ended up? Is it common for CA residents to have these animals despite the law (where did you get him neutered)?

Comment:  Keep in mind i had him neutered and basically was giving him away because I wanted him to to go to a good home the didn't rescue anything they stole him took the cage I was put on 3 years probation and 1200.00 fine

Comment:  BS animal rights nuts. This is a stolen pet... nice. Revenue agents.

Title:  Domestic house cats ...
Comment:  Domestic house cats have retractable claws to catch prey too! And their wild population is long gone, unless you count the ferals that run around the city. Let's ban them and send all of them to rehab and rescue facilities! This genet poses no threat to anything.

Title:  Lmfao this ' ...
Comment:  Lmfao this 'wildlife rehabber' has zero clue what a genet is. California for the win.

Author:  ebolaoutkast
Title:  1. This animal ...
Comment:  1. This animal poses no danger to any person. Maybe to small rodents and bugs. 2 You actually have no clue what you're talking about, so why sit there and pretend? The pet trade has zero impact on wild genet populations. They are thriving. Genets in the USA are all captive bred. Exactly what is the problem with this animal aside from people's pathetic ignorance?

Title:  I love it when dumb ...
Comment:  I love it when dumb asses preach to people about things they don't know shit about, WOW. A genet is not going to 'enter someone's doggie door and cause trouble', they are scardy cat little animals and obviously it's terrified here because it was CONFISCATED from its home. I'd bet money this officer just learned today what a freakin genet is. They'd be more educated possibly if they didn't live in a state that can't stand the idea of captive animals.
